The Night Husband and I saw a Cluster of UFO’s

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

Photos, videos and other links documenting this same incident from other people can be found below.

So, what just happened?!

Ah, Friday, the 13th. Normally a day for some folk to be extra vigilant, some folk to watch the great horror movie franchise, but, for the most part, most of us just go about our normal lives.

For my husband and I, well, we typically see Friday 13th as a good thing; we usually have a really good day. And, as always, today was no exception; my husband’s day at work went really well (which is awesome, considering he’s been have a lot of cognitive problems since his accident), Tiny Terror was well-behaved and I managed to get everything done in the home in time, including packing for our weekend away, which left enough time to enjoy quality time watching cartoons with Tiny Terror.

Packing because, after weeks of dealing with my husband’s injury, treatment, doctors, medications, tiny pay-cheques, lawyers, insurance companies, etc… We were ready for a small break away. We arranged to spend the weekend at his Dad’s house in Hyde County, NC.

Now, Hyde County is about as rural and as empty as America gets. OK, maybe not quite middle-of-Oklahoma-rural, but it’s still pretty desolate. Good for hunting, fishing and farming… Not so great for social events or if you’re looking for parties and clubbing. Basically, the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away.

And the road leading to it from Washington, NC is no different.

So, it’s about 5:30pm. The sun had set around 5pm and it was very dark out. We had just left Washington (NC) after a quick pit-stop and continued east on Hwy 264, direction Hyde County. After about 5 mins on the road, I texted my Father in Law and told him we were about an hour away and looked forward to seeing him soon.

Above us, the night sky, littered with the many bright stars of Winter, yawned darkly.

One star however, stood out.

It was bright. As in, really bright. So bright, in fact, that I was sure it was either Sirius (from the constellation Canis Major), or Saturn, which shines particularly brightly this time of year. Hwy 264 stretched ahead of us and our only light source were the headlights of oncoming traffic. I would estimate there was a car or two every 10 to 30 seconds. So, not very busy, but busy for that highway. This only seemed to emphasize the brightness of ‘the star’ that had caught my attention.

The little cloud that hovered above us was thin and low-lying, and this ‘star’ actually illuminated the cloud. So, I began to wonder if it was a helicopter or plane or… Anything. I wasn’t sure and even asked my husband what phase the moon was in that night, as I’d only ever seen the moon light up the night sky in this way. This, thing, however, was too small, and too low in the sky to be the moon.

Turns out the New Moon was the following night, Nov 14th, 2020.

That’s when I noticed that the bright light, which was to my right, was moving. I watched as it bobbed up, then down, then moved to the left, usually sticking to, or near, the tree tops of the surrounding forest.

As I watched, a smaller, reddish ‘star’ broke apart from the brighter ‘star’ and moved away from it. The next few moments were spent by me watching these two ‘stars’ move far apart and then back together again. It was as if they were trying to break free of each other, but some unknown force was pulling them back together again. Weird.

I explained everything to my husband, who was trying very hard to concentrate on the near pitch-black of the road ahead of us. Cars dwindled even further in number and, as there was no street lights out there, we felt especially creeped out. About 5 seconds later, the two ‘stars’ suddenly zoomed from my right/passenger side, to the left. Luckily at this point, the road curved, so now the two ‘stars’ were bobbing about in the sky in front of us.

Finally, my husband could see what was going on and his mouth fell open.

Immediately, he began scanning the side of the road for a place to pull over and, I whipped out my phone and tried recording them, but it didn’t come out. I’m not sure why. So, instead, I took a photo. I only managed to capture the brightest of the two ‘stars’, tragically just as another bank of thin cloud swallowed it.

This is that photo:

Yeah... Not much, I know. Then things got even weirder.

To the left of the two ‘stars’ appeared several more ‘stars’, only these were golden/orange in colour.

By now, my husband had slowed down, put his hazard lights on and pulled over to the side, just outside of a church, Zion Episcopal Church, Washington, NC. I’ve included photos of the location below.

We sat and watched in awe as 3 bright, orangey ‘stars’ appeared and formed the typical ‘triangle’ shape commonly seen in such sightings. Then another 3 to 5, less bright but still orangey ‘stars’ appeared, and they all began to move, including the white ‘star’ and the reddish ‘star’ from earlier.

They moved independently; some floating left, some bobbing right, others ‘weaving’ in and out of each other and some even moving in circles.

I tried once more to get a video. Again, it didn’t work. Plus there was still the occasional vehicle passing on the opposite side of the road which made filming hard. So, I settled on zooming in as far as I could and taking a photo.

Here is that photo:

Suffice to say, neither husband nor I saw the very faint ‘stars’ (am I still calling them that? Sure, why not. I have no idea what else to call them!) in the background.

Wanting to try one last time to get a video before moving on because we hate driving at this time of the day and it was freezing cold, I stepped out of our car and switched to ‘video’ on my phone. In the time it took to open my door and look at my cell and look back up again, the lights had gone.

Vanished.

My husband said, as I was opening the door, they had begun to fade away, leaving us with nothing more to photograph. I climbed back into the car and for a few more moments, we stared out of the windscreen to see if they’d come back.

Only the normal winter sky glittered and winked back at us.

We waited a little while longer, just in case the lights came back, but they didn't.

By the time we started back out on the road, it was 5:45pm.

Other people also reported this incident, too.

The most compelling documentation is this one:

Incident Report Number: 112308 (MUFON).

Includes two videos of the same incident, but filmed in Yonkers, New York State. You can see how the orbs, coloured white, red and orange-y/yellow-y all danced about and flitted through the night sky. Amazing stuff.

I highly recommend you go and check it out by clicking here:

Here are the videos from that report:

Other Report Numbers:

*I have included these additional reports as they are predominantly from the same state I'm in, plus they seemed to have been seen in an interesting succession: Carthage (middle of state) whilst the sun was still up, then in Raleigh, then in Greenville (further east) and then our sighting further east still and after the sun had gone down.

Life Be Crazy, huh?

Where to begin? These last four weeks have been... mental. Crazy. Absurd. Impossibly hectic. Insane... Busy. They've been busy. "What's been happening, Maddi?" I hear you ask with a raised eyebrow as
